Job description: Overview

Program Managers are responsible for the successful launch of Zebra products, solutions and services to market. We are looking for a very client-focused Program Manager with a passion for end-to-end product and solution development through the Scaled Agile Framework.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the development and implementation of a company’s products and services towards success
  • Acts as a project manager – overseeing the program from inception to delivery, including planning and leading timelines and overseeing budget / expense. Gathers feedback from the project team and acts independently to develop a project plan for moderate to large scope projects that may include new products or services. Uses established tools, approaches / methodologies and models to guide and document the plan and communicate it to the team. Gathers feedback from the team to revise and complete the project plan as needed
  • May lead several projects of limited to moderate scope simultaneously, or manage part of a larger program directly or through the supervision of less experienced program managers. Programs can be moderate to complex in nature or a large program with cross-functional teams in many locations and time zones or of much longer duration
  • Appoints and solicits team members from key stakeholder teams, including offer / product management, engineering, service / support and other functional groups, define timelines and budgets appropriately independent. Acts independently to train team members to be successful or replace team members as needed. Oversees the work of the project team (indirectly supervises) involving members from a wide range of disciplines, including engineering, marketing and operations
  • Organizes cross-functional activities, ensuring program completion i.e. product on time and on budget. Ensures regular coordination of meetings, facilitation and documentation of progress
  • Collects project team status updates and interprets team inputs to assemble a consolidated view of status. Provide regular status updates to senior management as directed. Status reports should be concise summaries, suitable for the audience which may include VP level team members. Ensures alignment of key leaders to achieve milestones before moving the agenda forward
  • Recognized as an “expert” in the business function and the processes in which the program operates. Can use business / process expertise to identify potential issues, challenge assumptions, and participate effectively in solution discussions. Able to use this knowledge in status updates and presentations, and to provide clarifying information as needed
  • Provide assistance in coordinating project deliverables and assets to assist the project team. Personally addresses obstacles or issues of moderate to severe severity and refers complex issues to management for assistance. Independently engages additional resources as needed to overcome obstacles or delays. Adjust the plan according to management guidelines as delays or obstacles are encountered
  • Demonstrates intermediate to advanced knowledge / applications of basic program management techniques and approaches, including familiarity with vocabulary. Effectively uses project management tools in planning and staffing plans, with an understanding of task durations and dependencies. Develops comprehensive risk management plans. Uses advanced techniques such as Monte Carlo analysis to determine the length of high probability programs. Performs critical path analysis to optimize schedule and minimize overall program duration
  • Demonstrates intermediate to advanced knowledge of PMI PMBOK and advanced project / program management techniques and approaches. Able to examine a number of project management techniques and select the most effective based on the context of the project. Working knowledge of cutting edge technologies such as Monte Carlo calendar analysis, critical chain management, etc. Experience with a wide range of project management tools and technologies
  • Demonstrates an advanced understanding of development processes and product launch scope and activities. Uses experience and knowledge to identify and recommend process improvements
  • Very limited supervision by management is expected in this position for complex or novel issues.
  • May directly supervise one or more level 1 or 2 program managers
  • Support initial go-to-market activities and transition to marketing
  • 8+ years of program management experience in the technology industry (including PMO experience in product development); including at least 3 years as a team leader / supervisor / mentor. (Must be a dynamic program manager with the ability to move and pivot with a quick team)
  • Total 15+ years total experience in the SW industry
  • At least 3 years of execution experience / work experience in the Agile world

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • 8 to 12 years of experience including at least 2 years as a team leader / supervisor
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in communication and animation. Preferred formal training
  • Intermediate to advanced presentation skills. Demonstrated ease in presenting to cross-functional audiences of intermediate to senior level
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of advanced concepts with program management approaches, tools and methodologies. PMP certification preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in PC-based documentation tools including MS Office and MS Project
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in delegation and monitoring
  • In-depth knowledge / demonstrated experience of the assigned technical business unit (hardware, software, services, etc.)
